What are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that the websites visited send to the user’s device (computer, smartphone, tablet, etc.) during the user’s browsing session, for retransmission to the same websites the next time they are visited.
Cookie are used for a number of different purposes. They have different characteristics and may be used both by the owner of the website visited and by third parties. This means that while you are browsing a specific website, elements may be presented from other websites that have such cookies, such as for instance images, sounds, maps and links to other pages.
Depending on the type of cookies and the purpose they are used for, some of the user’s data are memorised, for example in order to render the use of a website more effective, to enable specific functions or to monitor visiting sessions.

What are Cookies used for?
Cookies are used to memorise the preferences entered, to avoid having to enter the same information (such as username and password) several times during the browsing session, to analyse the use of the services and content provided by a website in order to optimize the browsing experiences and the services offered.
Types of Cookies
Cookies are divided into two macro categories: Technical Cookies and Profiling Cookies.
Technical Cookies are used for browsing or to provide a service requested by the user. They are not used for any other purposes, and are normally installed directly by the owner of the Website.
The prior consent of users is not required for the installation of Technical Cookies.
Technical Cookies are divided up into:

1.Session cookies:
these cookies guarantee the normal browsing and use of the website, making it possible, for example, to make purchase or for users to identify themselves in order to access reserved areas. These cookers are not persistently memorised on the device employed by the user, and are automatically deactivated when the browser is closed. Their use is linked to the transmission of identifying data required to browse the web pages safely and efficiently. Session cookies do not in any way allow for the acquisition of the user’s personal identifying data. Session cookies are:

  • Analytics Cookies:
these cookies are used to anonymously collect information on the use of the Website and to obtain a statistical analysis both of the pages viewed and of user behaviour. This anonymous analysis provides information and suggestions for improving the quality of the website and to facilitate access to the content most frequently sought and most interesting to users. Analytics cookies may be sent both from the website and from third-party domains, and do not in any way allow for the acquisition of the user’s personal identifying data. Analytics cookies, if installed by third parties (e.g. Google analytics), although they collect data anonymously, are considered in the same way as profiling cookies, as indicated by the Personal Data Protection Authority.
  • Functional cookies
considered in the same way as technical cookies when used directly by the manager of the website to collect information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how those users visit the website, these cookies allow the user to browse in accordance with a number of selected criteria (for example the language, the products selected for purchase), in order to improve the service provided to the user.
  • Profiling Cookies are used to keep track of users’ web browsing activity and to create profiles of their tastes, habits, choices, etc. These cookies can be used to send advertising messages to users’ devices, in line with preferences already shown by the same users while browsing online.
